Just doing some badly-needed updates to my portfolio. I had a fan ask me once how often an artist should update their portfolio and I said that one of my professors at SCAD taught me a good rule of thumb…any pieces in your portfolio that are over three years old should be removed, because they no longer reflect your absolute most current level of expertise. Any piece that you feel could be improved should either be improved on, or also removed. Keeping a piece in your portfolio purely for sentimental reasons is right out, because those reasons are lost on buyers and publishers.
Makes good sense to me! :) So I’ve been revamping my own portfolio, which has some older pieces that really need replacing. Here’s a WIP:
Still have a lot of work to do, especially on the foam and water effects :)
