I wanted to mention something very special and see if we can get your help! On the 16th of this month (next week), my company will be visiting the Eliza Shirley House in Philadelphia and putting on a charity princess and superhero party for the children! The Eliza Shirley House is a shelter for single mothers/parents and their children who are homeless or escaping abusive homes, and we want to throw them a really amazing party to lift their spirits!
Last time we went, we had local businesses donate goodies for gift bags for the children and some parents helped put the bags together. But we’re having trouble getting that stuff together again, so I thought I’d ask if any readers of this blog wanted to donate maybe a dollar or two towards buying some things for the gift bags. My boss and all the princesses have chipped in what we can, but we’re all pretty tapped out. We will be donating our time to sorting, bagging and decorating the gift bags for all the children, once we get all the items.
The children are ages 3-10 and they are VERY excited for the party! These are children who lack even the most basic necessities…they literally have next to nothing, so previous gift bags have included things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, towels, security blankets, small stuffed friends to comfort them, etc.
ANYTHING you can donate will be so appreciated by the children, even if it’s just fifty cents or a dollar! We are still trying to get donations from local businesses to include basic toiletries, but having a little money to get just some dollar store toys would be even better. For children who have basically the clothes on their back and little else, a colorful toy or stuffed friend means the world and will make them feel safer and more secure at the shelter.
If you can donate just a little, I would be terribly grateful! Do something nice to make yourself and others feel good, AND level up your karma! You’ll be getting MAD achievements for this!
You can Paypal your donation here, up until the 15th (that’s five days from now!):
(Sorry, the code for the donate button doesn’t seem to be working, so just use the direct email to send a donation for now!)
